Dreschvitz, a village on west Rügen is peacefully ensconced between wild meadows, woods and fields, although the main part of the town is centred round a small lake. Despite its drawn out nature, the town only has approx. 880 inhabitants and is a really pleasant spot to live. Owing to its secluded position, way off the main roads, Dreshvitz is the ideal place for a real getaway. The town’s attractions include:
- Nature (the Kubitzer Bodden is about 2km away and is already part of the Bodden National Park of Western Pomerania and is the annual settling place of thousands of migrating cranes; storks, herons, red kites and many other species also show decided appreciation for this part of the island.
- Sporting facilities (cyclists and inline skaters can blaze along the quiet country lanes and bike paths to their heart’s content; just 4km further on there are tennis, bowling and climbing facilities at the local leisure centre; boating and fishing on the Bodden; cross-country hikes)
- and a host of select cultural events (romantic concerts in the Landow church; readings by the old smithy or small open-air concerts in the museum farm in Gingst – 4 km ) make Dreschvitz a very interesting place for tourists with the most diverse range of interests. Although it doesn‘t have a beach on the doorstep (just 30 min. by car), many appreciate the town’s quiet pursuit of happiness and the absence of large crowds and large holiday complexes. A very friendly, personal atmosphere.
